Description:

This is a solid representative example of a WWII German MG-34 medium machine gun as used throughout WWII by all German forces. These were developed prior to WWII by Rheinmetall-Borsigwald company and were excellent and very reliable machine guns. They were manufactured with all machined parts that were, in many cases, hand fitted with exacting tolerances, that proved to be too time consuming and costly to produce, so they were eventually replaced with the later easier to manufacture, stamped and machined MG-42. This example was probably manufactured circa 1937-40 by the Mauser factory as it carries the early "Eagle/26" Mauser factory proof marks on the receiver. The top rear flat of the receiver is stamped with a small "WaA26/4396d" indicating it was proofed and accepted by the Mauser factory. The top of the barrel jacket is also numbered with "4396" while the top cover is stamped with "bpf" over "8503/c". The top of the buttstock is stamped with serial numbers "8477e" and "6081". Although this weapon has some mismatched numbers, this is fairly common in these early use weapons as many of the guns' parts were cannibalized for use on other weapons during heavy use, and many parts were also discarded before the guns were captured later in the war. This fine example is complete with the original sights, folding bipod, original drum magazine with a 50 round belt inside, an original 1937 dated ammunition can, also with 5 each, 50 round ammunition belts inside and an original 1943 dated large folding tripod with optic mount, anti-aircraft extension, and extra bolt in the spare tripod compartment.

Rating Definition:

Fine as assembled with 70% of the blue finish overall with even wear on the exposed metal surfaces from use over the years. The accessories are also in very fine plus condition. A very nice example of a real WWII early Mauser manufactured MG34 medium machine gun with accessories. NOTE: This weapon is a restricted, National Firearms Act (NFA) Class 3, Fully Automatic Weapon, that is registered with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (BATFE) under the provisions of 18 U.S.C. Chapter 44 and 27 CFR part 478. This weapon is currently registered as being "LIMITED TO USE AS A SALES SAMPLE (Pre-86)" and as such can only be purchased by an FFL, with a Class 2 or Class 3 SOT License.
