Description:

This helmet is pictured on page 128 of "SS Steel" by Kelly and also page 144 of "SS Helmets" by Beaver. The former describes it as follows: "This camouflaged M-42 helmet bears the maker stamp "ckl" in the rear skirt, signifying the helmet was made at the 'ET' factory after late 1943. The finish is in the standard 'ET' dark green rough texture paint, over-sprayed in a base coat of medium green, with dark tan splashes. This color scheme closely resembles the spring camouflage pattern of SS smocks and helmet covers. . .The decal is the standard 'ET' factory issue runic shield." It features the integral vent grommets and unrolled edge of the 1942 pattern stahlhelm. The SS black-on-silver "Sig Runes" shield decal, is fitted to the right side. The helmet skirt is stamped "ckl164/2768" in the rear, with brown leather webbing stamped "54" and an unmarked brown and black leather chinstrap.

Rating Definition:

Good, with over 70% of the camouflage finish, showing a number of scratches, edge wear, and areas of exposed base steel. The webbing and chinstrap are good, with some stains and cracks.
