Description:

1) The Officer's visor cap is constructed with a dark blue/gray wool crown and a woven black band, this cap is trimmed with yellow waffenfarbe piping, traditionally reserved for aviators and paratroopers, with an embroidered Luftwaffe eagle and cockade on the front, a silver wire chinstrap, and a black/green patent leather visor. The interior is marked "Roger Kauert K.G./BERLIN W." on the tan leather sweatband, with a white rayon lining. Consignor notes indicate this cap as being formerly of the George Petersen collection, who in turn acquired it at an American show, date unlisted. 2) The enlisted visor cap is constructed from gray wool with a woven black band, the cap features alloy eagle and cockade badges on the front, yellow waffenfarbe piping (in the style of the aviators and paratroopers), patent leather chinstrap, black and green visor, brown leather sweatband and a brown cloth lining. The crown is fitted with a sweat diamond, under which are the size "57", year "1939", and the maker's mark "LEPARO/Fabrikmarke/Leonhard Paulig/Rothenburg Oder." The inside of the sweatband is marked "L.B.A.B. 39" followed by an unclear marking over "2 Komp."

Rating Definition:

1) The Officer's visor cap is very good, with some light wear overall, a bit of material loss on the eagle patch, and appropriate sweat staining of the interior. Traces of the sweat diamond are still present, a few stitches from the eagle are visible through the lining, and the material inside the forehead area of the sweatband is disintegrating. 2) The enlisted visors cap is good, with mild handling marks overall. The chinstrap has a rough appearance, with some scratches and cracks on the visor and loss of the visor edge trim. The interior shows appropriate sweat staining, with some tearing in the sides of the sweatband and cracks/tears in the diamond.
