Manufactured about 1900, this is an early pattern "large ring flat side" Broomhandle pistol. Blade front and thousand-meter tangent rear sights, with the "crown/crown/U" proof on the left side of the chamber, "antler" style proof on the right, and "WAFFENFABRIK/MAUSER/OBERNDORF a/N" on top. The hammer is the early "large ring" configuration, with a matching early safety and the flat-sided frame. Matching numbers are present on a number of components, including the floor plate, follower, bolt and hammer assembly. With a hardwood shoulder stock, which is numbered "26771" on the mounting iron.

Fine, with 50% original blue finish, showing areas of gray and brown patina, bright edge wear and mild spotting. The follower spring is cracked through. The grips are good, but with significant deformation of the screw head. The stock is fair, showing significant damage, along with a field style repair consisting of a soldered copper wire wrap around the body to stabilize a number of cracks. Mechanically fine.
