Description:

1) N.P. Ames naval cutlass, 26 1/4 inches overall, 21 inch blade with the Springfield address on the right side and "U.S.N./1843/NW" on the left. The hilt is brass, with "82" and "IB/12" struck on the guard and a fish scale pattern grip. Includes a black leather sheath. 2) Ames foot artillery sword, 25 1/4 inches overall, with a 19 inch triple fuller blade bearing the Springfield address on the obverse and "UNITED/STATES/1833" on the reverse. The brass hilt is marked with a "LT" cartouche and "S.HUSE/NEWBURYPORT" on top of the guard. Includes a leather scabbard and belt rig.

Rating Definition:

1) Good. The blade shows a mixed gray patina, with mild spotting and some reshaping of the edges near the tip. The hilt has turned a fine aged color, and the scabbard shows wear and tear. 2) The fine blade shows a mild gray patina and the hilt is very fine with an attractive aged patina. The leather is fine, and is moderately worn.
