Description:

These Allen & Wheelock Army revolvers were manufactured in Worchester, Massachusetts in 1861-62. Some estimates suggest Allen & Wheelock only manufactured approximately 700 of these center hammer revolvers, and the Ordnance Department purchased 536 Allen revolvers in 1861; all are presumed to be these Army revolvers. The left side of the barrel is stamped with "ALLEN & WHEELOCK. WORCESTER. MASS./ALLEN'S PT'S. JAN. 13. DEC. 15.1857. SEPT." The matching partial or full serial number is located on the cylinder pin, trigger guard/loading lever arm, cylinder, front strap, and back of each grip. The side plate was not removed. It has a brass blade front sight and a notch on the hammer for a rear sight.

Rating Definition:

Very good plus with 25% of the bright original blue finish concentrated on the frame, significant original case colors on the hammer, lighter case colors on the lever, and mottled gray and brown patina on the balance along with some slight spotting. The grips are fine with strong original varnish, some dents, and mild edge wear including some small chips.
