Description:

The Springfield Arms Co. was short lived thanks to swift legal action by Samuel Colt and only operated c.1850-51. They manufactured a total of approximately 125 Navy model revolvers with the dual trigger mechanism and roughly an equal amount with a single trigger. The revolver is based on designs by James Warner. It has a cone front sight, notch rear sight, "SPRINGFIELD ARMS CO." on the top strap, "WARNER'S/PATENT" on the left side of the action, etching on the cylinder, "44 BB" and "4 6" on the back of the cylinder, and "107" on the inside of the right side plate, underside of the left grip, and the right side of the frame by the mainspring.

Rating Definition:

Very good plus with 20% original blue on the barrel, traces of original case colors, traces of original silver plating concentrated on the butt and protected areas, faint etching, mostly distinct markings, smooth gray patina on most of the balance, some light pitting, and mild overall wear. The grips are fine with much of the original high gloss varnish remaining, some dents and scratches, and minor edge wear. Mechanically fine. Overall, this is a solid example of an early American revolver variation missing from most collections.
