Description:

Only around 1,000 of these carbines were manufactured by E. Remington & Son in 1847 and 1848. The distinguishing feature of the Jenks-Remington is the use of a Maynard tape primer mechanism. The lock is marked "REMINGTON'S/HERKIMER/N.Y." The breech of the barrel is marked "P/W. JENKS/U.S.N./RP/P/1847/CAST-STEEL". The stock has an "RP" cartouche on the left side.

Rating Definition:

Very fine, retains 90% plus plum-brown finish, 75% plus of the original case colors on the lock, and slight aged patina on the brass with the balance a smooth grey patina. The reoiled wood is fine with minimal handling evidence and a crisp cartouche. Mechanically excellent.
