Description:

The Model 1819 Hall is a very historically significant firearm both in that it was the first military breech loading firearm issued in large numbers anywhere in the world and also the first firearm manufactured with totally interchangeable parts. They are known to have been issued to the Sixth U.S. Infantry which took part in the earlier Black Hawk War and the Seminole War. This 1839 dated example has the standard markings and features for the second production type (usually 1826-1838). There is an E. W. Roebling III collection tag on the trigger guard.

Rating Definition:

Excellent, near as-issued, with 90% of the original brown finish, dark case colors on the breech, and the bayonet sliding area of muzzle, a smooth grey-brown patina. The wood is also excellent with minor dings and scratches scattered throughout. Mechanically excellent.
