Description:

Measuring 36 1/2 inches overall, with a 31 3/4 inch straight single fuller blade, decorated on the lower half with gold accented wire etching and niter blue fields, with an unclear stamp (possibly a Solingen makers mark) on the right ricasso. The hilt is of gilt brass construction, with a "screaming eagle" pommel, wire wrapped mother of pearl grip panels, two-piece guard with a raised array of arms on the knuckleguard, and a scene on the languet of an American Eagle with 17 stars above its head and a "native princess" seated against an American shield with a liberty cap atop a spear. Includes the original brass scabbard, decorated with engraved leaf patterns.

Rating Definition:

Fine. The exceptionally fine bright blade shows some light spotting, with over 80% of the niter blue and gold finish. Some minor dents are present on the scabbard, and the hilt retains traces of gilt finish, with a mixed patina overall.
