Description:

This rifle is not signed, but multiple Pennsylvania gunmakers produced similar rifles, particularly Amos S. Bisbing of Tannersville who was active around the outbreak of the Civil War and after and was particularly known for this type of firearms and regularly used German silver accents. The barrels are roughly the same caliber, and one is rifled while the other is smoothbore which would allow for the use of a variety of load combinations. It features German silver and brass bands at the muzzles and breeches, blade and notch sights, a single trigger, light engraving on the lock, German silver furniture throughout, horn patch box release button near the toe, and attractive false flame patterns on the stock. The trigger ahead of the trigger guard releases the barrels for rotation.

Rating Definition:

Very good plus with dark gray and brown patina along the barrels, deep brown patina on the lock, replaced hammer screw, some mild oxidation/pitting, aged patina on the German silver throughout, crack in the upper side plate of the patch box, and moderate overall wear. The stock is fine other than a pinned repair between the lock and upper tang and has attractive flame patterns throughout and some light scrapes and dings. Mechanically fine.
