Description:

The only identifying marking found is "L. AMADON/B. FALLS/VT." on the ring at the tail of the scope for L. Amadon of Bellow Falls, Vermont, c. 1865. He appears to have worked as primarily a retailer and was also trained as a watchmaker and jeweler. He was also a marksman and appears to have been active around 1850-1880. One of his advertisement lists: "Premium Telescopic Rifles! Pronounced by the best Judges, to be superior to any in the country. Have in every instance drawn a premium. Manufactured and for Sale, by L. Amadon. Bellow Falls, Vt., Oct. 5, 1865." The rifle has a false muzzle, full length adjustable "turret base" scope, hole in the upper tang for a peep sight (not included), scroll and border engraving, double set triggers, German silver patchbox and other furniture, and shallow cheekpiece.

Rating Definition:

Fair with dark brown patina and mild marks and scratches, tool marks, taps on the bottom of the barrel (likely for rests), some replaced screws, and some gaps at the edges of the wood. The scope optics need work. Mechanically functions fine.
