Manufactured in 1879 as a second model with receiver dust cover rail secured by two screws and dust cover with checked oval grip. British proofs are stamped on the left side of the barrel and receiver at the breech. The barrel has a dovetail blade front sight and an elevation adjustable rear sight and is stamped with the two-line address/patent dates legend ahead of the rear sight. The rifle correctly lacks caliber markings. The upper tang is marked "MODEL 1873." The straight grip stock has a trapdoor buttplate (cleaning rod not included).

Fine, retaining 60% original blue finish with thinning to brown on the balance. 30% original nitre blue remains on the loading gate. 40% of original case colors remain on the hammer and lever, and mostly silvered out case colors visible on the buttplate. The wood is also fine with minor dings and scratches. Mechanically excellent.
