Manufactured in 1902. The accompanying factory letter lists this carbine with a barrel in .30 caliber and shotgun buttplate when received in the warehouse on November 5, 1904 and shipped on November 8. Although the checkered forearm and pistol grip stock are not listed in the letter, these special order features appear original. The not often found "I" style checkering around the diamond under the forearm. The left side of the lower tang is marked "182 S." The butt of the stock is marked "94/2829." The buttplate also has the number 2829." The barrel has the two-line address/patent dates marking, two-line nickel steel marking and "30 WCF" and is equipped with pinned Marble 894 front sight and folding ladder rear sight. The tang has a folding Lyman peep sight. There are also sling eyelets attached to the bottom of the barrel band and buttstock, hard rubber factory grip cap and steel shotgun buttplate. Winchester carbines are rarely found with special order features.

Very fine, retaining 80% plus original blue finish with the balance thinning to a gray. There is a series of scratches on the right side of the frame. 50% original nitre blue remains on the loading gate. 30% of original case colors remain on the hammer and lever. The wood is very fine with dark stains on forward right comb, short hairline crack protruding from the buttplate heel, some minor dings and scratches and some blemishes in the overall crisp checkering. Mechanically excellent.
