Manufactured in 1903. The accompanying factory letter lists this rifle with an octagon barrel in .45-90 caliber, plain trigger and checkered pistol grip stock when received in the warehouse on August 16, 1904, and shipped on August 18. Dovetail blade and elevation adjustable sights on a barrel marked with the two-line legend and "45-90 WCF." "-MODEL 1886-" marked upper tang, and lower tang with patent dates marking and serial number. Nicely figured pistol grip stock with hard rubber Winchester grip cap and crescent buttplate. The left side of the lower tang is marked "349 OF." "221" is on the stock inlet and buttplate.

Fine, retaining 60% original blue finish with thinning to brown and minor spotting on the balance. There is some minor pitting. 50% original case colors remain on the hammer and lever. The wood is also fine with a number of minor-moderate dings and scratches, some blemishes in the checkering and retaining much of the original varnish. Mechanically excellent.
