Manufactured in 1902 as a third model with the dust cover rail integrally machined as part of the receiver and dust cover with rear serrations. The accompanying factory letter lists this rifle with an octagon barrel in .22 short caliber and plain trigger when received in the warehouse on August 9, 1902, and shipped on September 16. The barrel has a dovetail blade front sight, elevation adjustable buckhorn rear sight, the two-line address/patent dates marking and "22 SHORT." "22 CAL/SHORT" is marked on the cartridge elevator, and "MODEL 1873" is marked on the upper tang. The buttstock has a solid crescent buttplate.

Fine, retaining 50% original blue finish with the balance a smooth brown patina. Patterns of original case colors remain on the hammer and lever. The wood is very good with a scrap on the comb and numerous dings and scratches. Mechanically fine.
