Manufactured in 1911 and featuring a spectacular factory F grade engraving. The sides of the receiver have large mountain scene vignettes: a hound chasing two whitetail bucks and a whitetail doe on the left side and a whitetail buck and doe on the right side. The vignettes are surrounded by beautifully executed scrollwork. The scrollwork extends to the top and bottom of the receiver. The underside of the receiver has an engraved monogram, and the upper tang has an engraved zig-zag border. The lever boss and takedown collar have matching scrollwork. For a similar engraving is David Royal's "A Collector's Guide to the Savage 99 Rifle" on page 38. The rifle is equipped with a pinned beaded blade front sight, folding two leaf rear sight and tang peep sight. The upper tang has a pin cocking indicator. The bolt is jeweled. Matching numbers are found on the receiver, forearm, buttstock and buttplate. The select walnut forearm and straight grip stock feature fancy checkering. The stock flats are also checkered. The buttstock is fitted with a Savage hard rubber shotgun style buttplate. The accompanying Roe Clark letter states factory records lists this rifle with .303 caliber chambering, Premier grade. "GPM" engraved on bottom of receiver and featherweight takedown configuration when accepted from the factory on July 13, 1911 and shipped the next day to H&D Folsom Arms Co in New York City. Also includes a copy of the factory record.

Excellent, retaining 98% plus bright original high polish blue finish with wear mostly limited to the high edges and some minor handling marks. 97% plus vivid original case colors remain on the lever. The engraving is crisp. The wood is extremely with a barely noticeable short hairline stress crack near the upper tang, some minor handling evidence, crisp checkering overall and retaining most of the original finish. Mechanically excellent. A high condition and rare factory premiere grade engraved Model 1899 featherweight takedown rifle that is a must have for any serious Savage collector.
