Only around 2,200 of these Colt Model 1860 Richards-Mason conversions were manufactured in the mid to late 1870s as cartridge revolvers using a mix of percussion revolver parts on hand and newly fabricated components. The revolver has a blade front sight, the "-ADDRESS COL. SAML COLT NEW-YORK U.S. AMERICA-" barrel address, standard naval cylinder scene, the distinctive breech plate without a rear sight, a "1996" marked loading gate, rimfire firing pin on the hammer which has a small notch for a rear sight, "COLT/PATENT" on the left side of the frame, "36 CAL" on the left side of the trigger guard, and matching visible serial numbers. The serial number on the frame, trigger guard, and back strap have a "1" below.

Rating Definition:

Exceptionally fine overall with 85% plus original nickel plating, loss concentrated on the grip straps, some minor discoloration, edge wear and some dents on the grip which retains glossy original varnish, and general light scratches and marks. Mechanically excellent.
