Only an estimated 2,000 of these revolvers are estimated to have been made by converting existing percussion revolvers c. 1873-1875. It has an octagon barrel without an ejector with a rammer hole and filled loading lever mounting slots, a post front sight, excellent late factory scroll engraving without backgrounds, the standard New York address on top of the barrel, "COLTS/PATENT" on the left side of the frame, the stagecoach hold-up scene on the rebated cylinder, "36 CAL" on the left side of the trigger guard, a varnished walnut grip, "IE" by the main serial number locations, matching visible serial numbers, matching numbered grip (back strap mortise), and a replaced wedge.

Rating Definition:

Very fine with 70% original blue and 60% casehardened finish, 30% original darkened silver plating, aged patina on the brass, smooth gray and brown patina on the balance, crisp engraving and markings, scrapes and drag lines on the cylinder, and mild overall wear. The grip is also very fine and has nearly all of the high polish original varnish, slight edge wear, and a few minor dings and marks. Mechanically excellent.
