Description:

Only around 15,000 of these revolvers were manufactured in 1847-1850 compared to over 325,000 of the Model 1849 Pockets. This one was manufactured in 1849 and has a German silver post front sight, "-ADDRESS SAML COLT/NEW-YORK CITY-" on top of the barrel, the Indian and Rangers cylinder scene, round cylinder stops, "COLTS/PATENT" marking on the left side of the frame, squareback trigger guard, and matching serial numbers on the barrel, arbor pin, cylinder, frame, and grip straps. The wedge is a replacement.

Rating Definition:

Very good with much of the original silver plating exhibiting a dark aged patina throughout, lighter aged patina on the exposed brass, mottled dark gray and brown patina and light pitting on the balance, a crack in the hammer well, and moderate overall wear. Cylinder scene is lightly visible, although the patent markings and serial number are clearly legible. The grip is also very good and has chipping at the toe, a crack on the right at the toe, and mild handling and storage wear. Mechanically fine.
