Description:

2,120 Model 1874 Sporting Rifles were manufactured at the Hartford factory with octagon barrels. This one was manufactured c. 1873-1874 and features standard blade front and Lawrence patent rear sights, the Hartford barrel address, "CALIBRE 44" on top at the breech, matching serial numbers (barrel, forend, and upper tang), standard patent markings, plain trigger, pewter forend cap, and a brass buttplate.

Rating Definition:

Very good with 30% plus original blue finish fading to brown patina along the barrel, 25% original case colors (strongest on the left side of the action) along with gray and brown patina, replaced buttplate, spots of light oxidation, and minor dings and scratches. The refinished wood is good with extensive fill in repairs visible in the toe, some small flakes, and minor scrapes and pressure marks. Mechanically excellent.
