Also known as the Model Number One, this pistol was made before the introduction of the manual extractor to the Elliot Derringer pistol. While Elliot's design was a prolific seller for Remington, less than 2000 of this early variant are believed to have been made. Blade front and notch rear sights, with "E. REMINGTON & SONS ILION, N.Y." on the left side rib of the barrels and "ELLIOT'S PATENT DEC. 12TH 1865" on the right. Matching numbers are present on the underside of the barrel and the right side of the frame beneath the grip panel. Fitted with a niter blue hammer and trigger and a pair of smooth grips.

Fine, with 70% of the bright original high polish blue finish. Most of the frame and some areas of the barrels have turned a mixed brown and gray patina, along with some bright edge wear and mild handling marks. The hinge appears solid, though some driver marks are present on the screw heads. Grips are very good, with some light dents and scratches. Mechanically excellent. These early production blued Remington O/U Derringers are seldom found in this fine of condition!
