These pistols were built by Israel Segalas II (1714-1774) around the 1760s in London. His father, Israel Segalas I, was a French Huguenot (some accounts suggest Jewish) and from Béarn and was also a gunmaker as was his other son John and widow Elizabeth. The pistols are signed "SEGALAS" on the domed locks and "SEGALAS LONDON" on top of the barrels and have "IS" maker's marks between the London proof and view marks on the tapered smooth bore barrels. The barrels also have raised brass blade front sights and light floral engraving, and the locks also have engraved borders. The furniture is all brass and displays traditional British martial patterns, floral accents, and grotesque mask pommel caps. The stocks have raised shell carving at the barrel tangs, nicely formed flats, and smooth oiled finish.

Very good, with signs of an old cleaning, showing a mixed gray patina and a few areas of pitting. The brass is fine, showing a dark patina in the lower areas. The stock is fine, with a few cracks, chips, some scattered hairline cracks, and some minor handling marks. No half-cock engagement; otherwise mechanically fine.
