The India pattern was in use from the tail end of the 18th century until the 1850s. Consignor notes indicated the main contractors involved in this particular musket were Bassal and Dawes. The left side of the comb has been hand inscribed with a name in script (cannot decipher, but crisp), and the right side has a carved design.

Rating Definition:

Fine overall with a mix of dark lacquer and mottled gray patina on the barrel, mild pitting concentrated at the breech, gray and brown patina on the lock, attractive aged patina on the brass, a few of cracks in the forend, faint tension crack at the rear lock screw, general dings and scratches, and general moderate wear. Mechanically fine.
