Manufactured in the latter part of the 18th century by one of the premier English makers. The locks are signed "Barbar," and the London proofed smoothbore barrels have "Barbar LONDON" signed on top and silver "spider" base front sight blades. The locks and furniture have scroll, border, and floral engraving. The trigger guards have acorn finials. The side plates, thumb plates, and caps are silver. The stocks have raised shell carving at the upper tang.

Very god with gray and brown patina, pitting along the barrel, some bright oxidation on the lock, distinct markings and engraving, and moderate overall wear. The stock is fine and has general minor scrapes and dings, a repaired crack at the nose of the lock, small crack at the tail of the lock, a few slight chips, and mild overall wear. Mechanically fine.
