Description:

The Chicago Fire Arms Company and Ames Sword Co. produced these palm pistols in the 1890s. They were designed and first manufactured by Jacques Turbiaux in 1882 in France and were produced for a brief period by the Minneapolis Firearms Company before the rights were sold to Peter Finnegan of the Chicago Fire Arms Company who planned on cashing in selling these pistols to the visitors of the World's Columbian Exposition in 1893. The two-stage barrel has a band of floral engraving, and the side of the action has floral engraving. The side plate has a checkered pattern around the edge to facilitate easier removal. The center of the removable plate is marked "CHICAGO FIRE ARMS CO./CHICAGO ILL", and the frame is marked "THE PROTECTOR/PATENT. MCH.6.83. AUG.29.93." The sides have pearl panels, and the plunger has a checkered hard rubber pad. The serial numbers match on the side plate, magazine, and action. Included with the pistol is an original factory box with directions inside.

Rating Definition:

Excellent with 97% plus original nickel plating, a few small flakes on the plunger, and a few dings and scratches. The scales are very fine and have mild wear overall and some slight chipping and a minor crack in one side. The plunger pad is very fine and has minor aging and crisp checkering. Mechanically excellent. The scarce factory box is about good with separation, tape, discoloration, and moderate overall wear but presents well with this very attractive and distinctive pistol
