All New Model No. 3 frames were manufactured by 1898. Offered here is one of no more than 50-75 New Model No. 3 Revolvers manufactured with 8 inch barrels and target sights. The accompanying factory letter lists this target revolver with an 8 inch barrel in .44 S&W Russian, adjustable rear target sight, blue finish and checkered walnut grips when shipped on November 12, 1906, and delivered to H&D Folsom Arms Co., New York City. S&W historian Roy Jinks states in the letter this revolver was a special order with a not listed front sight that he has seen on New Model No. 3s that were shipped after 1900. Matching serial numbers are found on the butt, cylinder, barrel and barrel latch.

Excellent, retaining 95% plus original blue finish with cylinder drag lines and thinning on the back strap. 90% original case colors remain on the hammer and trigger guard. The grips are also excellent with some minor handling evidence mostly near/on the bottoms and crisp checkering overall. Mechanically excellent.
