Description:

No. 1 1/2 Second Issue revolvers were manufactured in 1868-1875. These two represent the two standard finishes of blue and nickel and both a rare and standard barrel length. The standard markings are found on the rib of gun A and the left side of the barrel of gun B. Each gun has matching assembly numbers, and the matching serial numbers are on the butts and right grips. The case also contains a rare Hall & Hubbard cartridge box with three cartridges from around 1870. Only a very small number were made with short barrels.

Rating Definition:

Very fine overall with near 90% scare original blue finish, lightly browned finish in the flaked areas, strong original case colors on the rod and hammer, minor marks and scratches, and light edge wear on the grips. Mechanically excellent.

Rating Definition:

Very fine with 95% plus original nickel plating, very faint light handling and storage wear, and strong original case colors around the hammer spur. The grips are very good and have mild edge wear, and minor handling marks. Mechanically excellent. The case is good with a period added blank initial plate, minor cracks in the lid, and moderate storage wear. The cartridge box is fine and has the expected age related wear. Overall a very nice set for collectors of antique Smith & Wesson revolvers.
