Description:

This a very nice example of one of approximately 9,000 Sharps Model 4B pepperbox pistols manufactured in the third quarter of the 19th century. It has bead and groove sights, the barrel release button on the right side of the frame, "C. SHARPS PATENT/JAN. 25. 1859" on the right side of the frame, "10952" on the bottom of the barrel group (possible factory error in the last digit), "10955" on the left side of the back strap, and varnished grips.

Rating Definition:

Fine with 95% of the original nickel plating remaining on the barrels, subtle original case colors on the hammer, frame cleaned to bright, light scratches and marks throughout, and minor oxidation. The grips are very fine and have some light pressure marks and light scratches consistent with handling and storage. Mechanically fine.
