Manufactured in 1884 and subsequently engraved by noted Master Engraver David Wade Harris. The engraving consists of an extensive floral scroll pattern on a punch dot background, fan motif on the recoil shield, loading gate and top of the back strap, and geometric patterns on the trigger guard and back strap. Harris signed his work on the butt amongst the scrollwork. The barrel has the two-line Hartford address, and the frame has the three-line patent date marking. Matching serial numbers are found on the frame, trigger guard and back strap. Fitted with stag grips. Harris is best known for his cattle brand engraving. He was taught the art of cattle brand engraving by Weldon Bledsoe, who had in turn learned the art from Cole Agee, the originator of the cattle brand engraving.

Rating Definition:

Fine as embellished by Engraver D.W. Harris, retaining nearly all of the nickel plating showing light traces of a cylinder drag line and minimal handling evidence. The grips are slightly oversized. The cylinder does not lock properly when hammer is down.
