Description:

These spurs are unmarked as is typical of Tom Johnson Juniors work, as well as featuring the goose-neck shanks ending in spoked rowels and single nickel mounting which is zig-zag and floral engraved. At different points in his life Johnson worked for two of the most famous and desirable spur making firms, those being, Kelly Bros. and McChesney's, where he earned widespread praise for his quality of work. This particular pair of spurs feature thin heel bands, typical of spurs made for female customers. The leather straps are basket-weave stamped with "ALPACA/MEXICO" marked engraved buckles. Heel band width: 3/8" Shanks: 1 3/4" Rowel diameter: 1 3/8" Heel opening: 3 1/4".

Rating Definition:

Very fine, showing mostly an aged grey patina with bright nickel mountings and some minor handling marks/wear consistent with use. There is some very light scattered surface oxidation on the rowels. The leather straps are excellent with very minimal wear and crisp stamping.
