Manufactured in 1981. This fine true pair features blue chopper lump barrels with "J. PURDEY & SONS. AUDLEY HOUSE. SOUTH AUDLEY STREET. LONDON, ENGLAND" marked on the smooth concave rib, marked "WOODCOCK HILL BENTON PA" on the lower rib underneath the forend, with a single bead sight, 2 3/4 inch chambers with automatic ejectors, improved cylinder/modified chokes, standard London nitro proofs dated 1981 on the flats, and light engraving at the breech. The receiver and locks are casehardened with nitre blue pins and lined cocking indicators, removable firing pin bushings, self opening action, full coverage Purdey rose and scroll engraving, standard maker's marks on the locks, dual triggers, automatic sliding tang safety, and matching engraved trigger guard. Nicely figured, multi-point checkered walnut splinter forearm with engraved fittings, Anson push button latch and straight grip buttstock with inset gold initial oval inscribed with a single "S", and leather wrapped recoil pad. The guns are each marked with a gold inlaid "1" or "2" on the barrel, forend tip, and top of the break lever. With brass cornered leather bound takedown case with leather and canvas outer, fitted for both guns with a Purdey interior trade label, a factory specifications label which includes the chokes listed at "1/4" and "Modified", two London pattern turnscrews, firing pin bushing spanner, snap caps, two extra firing pins, shell extractor, two-piece ebony cleaning rod, oil bottle, and cleaning rod heads. Excellent. The barrels have 98% original blue finish with some light muzzle wear and handling marks. The receiver and locks have 98% dark original case colors with some mild edge wear. The wood is also excellent with attractive figure, sharp checkering, and a few small dings. Mechanically excellent.

The wood is also excellent with sharp checkering and just a few small dings. Mechanically excellent. Case is excellent with light storage marks and some small exterior dings.
