Lucchini Italy" on the left side in fine gold wire inlay with a single bead sight on the matte, concave rib, 3 inch chambers with automatic ejectors, modified/improved modified chokes, and standard Italian proofs on the flats. The receiver and non-detachable lock plates are a bright polished coin finish with highly detailed bulino game scenes of cape buffalo on the right, an Argali sheep on the left, and a red stag on the underside. The balance of the receiver and lock borders are rendered in finely detailed leafy thistle scroll with contrasting darkened backgrounds. The trigger plate is signed "C. Cremini" for Italian Master Engraver Claudio Cremini. The underside of the receiver is also marked with the gold inlaid name "L. IRWIN BARNHART". With dual triggers and manual sliding tang safety. Multi-point checkered beavertail forearm with Anson push button latch and engraved fittings and straight grip buttstock with a checkered bare butt. Irwin Barnhart (1943-2015) was a lifelong hunter and conservationist, member of The Safari Club International, and winner of all the major SCI hunting awards including the Frank Green award. In 1993 he was presented with the prized Weatherby Foundation International Trophy by none other than General Norman Schwarzkopf. When not hunting Barnhart contributed to conservation efforts by sponsoring youth hunts and firearms training. In his private life he raised 28 species of wild game on his Texas ranch where he enjoyed observing them in their natural environment. Excellent overall. 99% original blue finish remains with some small nicks and handling marks. The receiver and locks are bright with sharp, detailed engraving. The wood is also excellent with attractive grain, crisp checkering, and some small scattered dings. Mechanically excellent.
