These pistols appear to be genuine Henry Deringer pistols as opposed to those made by his many period counterfeiters. The barrels have Deringer's false Damascus patterns, separate breech plugs marked "DERINGER/PHILADELA" and featuring dual gold bands, seven groove rifling, gilt blade front sights, and fixed notch rear sights on the upper tangs. There is scroll engraving on the upper left of the breech where the burst "P" marking is usually found. The locks have scroll engraving and are marked "DERINGER/PHILADELA." The wedge plates, plates below the bolsters, side plate, trigger guard, wrist escutcheons, and tear drop buttplates are all gold or gilded and engraved. The wrist escutcheons also have the inscription: "To/BHF/From/LEB." The stocks have smooth oiled finish and checkered bird's head butts. The pair comes in a bound case with embossed scrollwork on the lid and a close fitted interior holding a ramrod with ball puller concealed under the rammer, a compartment of lead balls, small powder flask, "65" marked ball mold, wooden container of caps, and a screwdriver.

Fine as professionally restored overall with fading brown finish and gray streaks on the barrel, dark gray patina on the lock and breech, bright gilt finish on the furniture, crisp markings and engraving, distinct checkering, smooth re-oiled finish on the stock, and minor handling and storage marks. Mechanically excellent.
