This early 19th century French style shotgun's silver wrist escutcheon is inscribed "La fabrique/reconnaissante" (the grateful factory or the factory's thanks). There are no other identifying markings. The frizzens have a unique sealing mechanism. The lock has light floral engraving on the stepped tails. The Damascus barrels have a blade front sight, gold vent liners, and gold highlighted beadwork at the breech. The furniture has floral and border engraving with some gold washed highlighting. The nicely figured stock has raised floral carving, molding, a dog head among the designs on the top of the wrist, a doe in raised relief depicted in detailed pastoral scene on the left side of the butt, checkering in the grasping areas, and wire and pin inlay at the edges of the butt.

Very fine with distinct Damascus patterns, light patina along the barrels and the otherwise bright furniture, original bright polished locks with some faint discoloration, minor distortion of the gold, crisp engraving, ad minor marks and scratches. The stock is fine with some minor cracks, distinct carving, crisp checkering, minor marks and scratches, and attractive figure. Mechanically fine.
