The barrel flares out to 1 1/4 inches at the muzzle and has a 12 3/4 inch "snap" bayonet mounted on top that is released by the lever on the top of the upper tang, ringed transition point, and "PEACOCK LONDON" on top of the octagonal breech section. There are no visible proofmarks. The lock is signed "PEACOCK" at center, has scroll and border engraving, and a sliding safety. The furniture has additional scroll, floral, and line engraving. The stock has a checkered wrist and a blank silver thumb escutcheon. William Peacock is recorded as a gunmaker in the 1820s in London and as formerly working under Joseph Manton.

Rating Definition:

Very good with distinct markings and engraving, light gray patina and mild pitting. The stock is good with crisp checkering, a crack above the nose of the lock, strike marks on the sides of the butt, and a faint tension crack on the left flat. Aside from the safety, it is mechanically fine. Overall a pleasantly attractive English Blunderbuss!
