Description:

Manufactured in Springfield's last assigned block of post-WWII serial numbers, this rifle was selected for upgrade to a Type II National Match rifle. Blade and peep sights, with the former marked "NM/062" and the latter marked "NM" on the staff, "NM/2A" on the right ear, "NM/2" on the left ear, "595" on the peep hood, "NM CPP" on the windage drum and "LU X" on the elevation drum. The left side of the barrel, underside of the gas cylinder and top of the operating rod are marked "NM", with a Springfield bolt, trigger housing, and hammer, "RA" operating rod, and a Springfield "SA 12-62" dated barrel with "P", "PM", and "DoD Eagle" stamps on the chamber. The stock is lightly glass bedded, with a matching number applied inside the rod channel, "DoD" and "P" stamps on the exterior, a brown leather sling and a checkered steel buttplate. With a set of shipping documents from Erie Army Depot, documenting the sale of this rifle as an "M1, N/M" by serial number, noting it as a "MAJOR ITEM NRA SALES", and listing a selection date of 11-30-65.

Rating Definition:

Excellent, with 95% plus original parkerized finish, showing some light edge wear and handling marks overall. The stock is fine, with some light dents and scratches. Mechanically excellent.
