Both locks are signed "M. MINICK" below the pans. Toussaint Mathias Minick was a gunmaker in Liege, Belgium, around 1781-1803. Other pieces by him are known signed "T. MINICK." It is possible this may be the mark of one of his relatives; however, none are recorded in "Der Neue Stockel." A rounded blade front sight is fitted on the rib between the smoothbore Damascus barrels. The furniture has some light scroll and floral engraving. The stock has raised scrollwork, floral patterns, and borders; a horn forend cap, and silver wire scrollwork inlaid in the wrist.

Very good plus with visible Damascus patterns, gray and brown patina, mild pitting, and minor marks and scratches. The stock is fine and has some small chips at the edges, slivers of wire inlay absent, and mostly crisp carving. Mechanically fine.
