Description:

This is a very fine example of a DWM Model 1906 commercial "American Eagle" Luger. This series/variation of Luger was manufactured expressly for sale in the United States. These early commercial Lugers are extremely well manufactured and exhibit excellent fit and finish with beautiful rust bluing and straw colored small parts. The chamber area has the distinctive "American Eagle" crest with the DWM logo on the toggle with the earlier "Crown/B, U and G" commercial proofs on the underside of the barrel with only the "Crown B and U" proofs on the left side of the barrel extension and breechblock/toggle assembly. This model has the short style frame and upper receiver with the fast taper 4 7/8 inch barrel configuration, grip safety and polished lower safety area with the correctly marked, "LOADED" extractor. The front sight is a period American bead variant. Numbered in the commercial style with the full serial number stamped on the underside of the barrel and front of the frame with the last two digits of the serial number (99) stamped on the various small parts. The front end of the frame is stamped "GERMANY" indicating export outside of Europe. It is complete with one nickel plated military magazine that has an unnumbered wooden base, stamped with "1456/l/+" on the bottom of the base.

Rating Definition:

Very fine with 85% of the slightly faded blue finish overall, with some slight thinning on the grips straps otherwise showing typical holster thinning. The grips are very good overall with nice original checkering on both sides, showing even honest wear across the tops of the checkering, with a slight larger scratch on the right side. It has matching numbers on the various parts except the magazine as noted, the grips and firing pin which are all unnumbered and the matching side plate shows a factory error 9 over 1 overstrike. A solid representative example of an American Eagle Luger pistol.
