Description:

Switzerland was the first country to adopt the Luger as a military sidearm with its contract purchase of the Model 1900 from DWM. Once WWI started DWM could no longer supply Switzerland with Lugers so the Swiss firm of Waffenfabrik Bern produced its own version of the Model 1906. This pistol is one of the Swiss made copies of the German Model 1906. Approximately 17,000 of these pistols were manufactured for the Swiss military and were most likely produced between 1918 and 1933. The top of the chamber is marked "P/54" and the top of the toggle is marked "WAFFENFABRIK/BERN" under the Geneva Cross, the right side of the barrel extension has a small Geneva Cross and the left side has a small "+/M" marking. A small Geneva Cross is also present on the left side of the barrel and right side of the frame at the front of the trigger guard. The matching serial number is marked on the front of the frame and underside, rear of the barrel and, "69" appears just below the rear sight. The pistol is blue with straw colored take down lever, trigger, magazine release and safety lever. It has the original Swiss checkered walnut grips with the smooth border around the edges. The magazine is unmarked with a brushed metal finish and a walnut base.

Rating Definition:

Excellent. The pistol retains 98% original blue finish with some minor muzzle wear and some wear on the left side of the barrel extension from normal cycling of the action. 97% of the original straw colors remain with some light edge wear. The grips are also excellent with some minor chips above the screw on the left panel, some minor dings and handling marks, with crisp checkering. Markings are crisp and clear. Mechanically excellent.
