Description:

The barrel is marked on top at the breech with government proof marks. The lock is marked with a standard "crown/GR" Georgian cypher in front of the cock, "broad arrow" just below the pan, "TOWER" at the tail, and "WG" and "crown/3" on the inside. The brass wrist escutcheon is blank. The lock shows standard characteristics of the Type 2 muskets, and it has the slightly flared second ramrod guide, also typical of a Type 2. "DI" is hand carved on the left of the buttstock.

Rating Definition:

Very good plus, showing a mottled silver-grey patina on the barrel, dark grey patina on the lock, and an aged patina on the brass. There is some minor pitting at the breech near the pan. The reoiled wood is also very good with minor dings and scratches throughout and some minor chipping around the lock plate. Mechanically excellent.
