Description:

It appears to be a Model 1815, but it may be an earlier example from the late 18th century or one of the later examples built using some mixed parts given the cock style, non-bridled frizzen, and dished cheek rest. It has a bayonet lug on the bottom near the muzzle, a brass blade front sight on the top of the barrel, broad brass barrel bands, a "crown/V" proof along with a monogram over "PG" on top near the breech, "F945" on the left side at the breech, "945" repeated on the buttplate heel, a notch rear sight, "PGB" below the pan, sling swivels on the middle barrel band and front of the trigger guard, and a "110" collection tag.

Rating Definition:

Fine with mottled gray patina and some oil staining on the lock and barrel, light pitting, aged patina on the brass, general marks and scratches, and minor overall wear. The lightly varnished stock is also fine and has a few small filled spots, minor chips at the edges of the forend, small checks in the wrist, and minor dings and scratches. Mechanically excellent.
