Description:

Manufactured circa the 1930s by Kelly Bros., one of the most desirable Western spur makers. The company was started by P.M. Kelly, who made his first pair of spurs in 1903. This pair are very similar to others in the "Powder River" line which were produced for Denver Dry Goods, though they are not marked as such. They are marked "KELLY/BROS" near the lateral buttons. The wide upturned heel bands have large nickel mounted lateral buttons and the lateral arms are single mounted with lightly engraved nickel. They have gal-leg/goose neck shanks that end in large six-spoked rowels. Provenance: Joe Flores Collection. Heel band width: 1" Shanks: 3" Rowel diameter: 2 1/2" Heel opening: 3 1/4".

Rating Definition:

Fine, showing a mostly brown patina and bright nickel mountings with some scattered light oxidation and some mild wear consistent with use.
