Description:

Billy Klapper is one of the few spur makers still alive making spurs in the old tradition, having learned from legendary makers such as Adolph Bayers. For much of his career Klapper managed to make roughly 200 pairs of spurs a year, with high demand leading to waiting times of a year or more for orders to be filled. These wait times along with Klapper's masterful skill have led to his spurs becoming highly desirable. This pair are single mounted in nickel and copper with foliate and bell designs along with "1979" on the left and "1994" on the right. Both spurs are marked "KLAPPER" and "102" near the medial buttons. They have swinging buttons and short gal-leg shanks with chap guards ending in toothed rowels. Heel band width: 1" Shanks: 2" Rowel diameter: 1 1/2" Heel opening: 3 1/2".

Rating Definition:

Very fine, showing a mostly bright finish and bright nickel mountings. The copper mountings show a nice aged patina. There are some very scattered patches of light oxidation and some light wear.
