Description:

With blued octagonal Krupp steel barrel with a matted top sighting flat, signed “K. GEBERT MÜNCHEN” and “HOFBÜCHSENMACHER” in silver towards the breech, and fitted with an adjustable standing rear sight and a ramp mounted bead front sight. Casehardened receiver with matted front ring, sidewall fitted with a sprung base for a quick detachable scope mount, flattened bolt handle, and rear tang incorporating a sprung folding aperture peep sight. Figured 13 3/4 inch stock with raised cheekpiece, checkered pistol grip and slight Schnabel forearm tip. Plain steel buttplate with hinged trap cover. Casehardened trigger guard and magazine box with double set triggers. Two sling mounts are respectively fitted beneath the barrel and butt, and a brass mounted cleaning rod is mounted beneath the barrel. Post 1893 German nitro proof marks. Provenance: Property of a German Prince, the great, great grandchild of Emperor Franz Josef I, Emperor of Austria and King of Hungary.

Rating Definition:

Very good. Retaining traces of original blued finish to the barrel with age related surface spotting and discoloration. The receiver and trigger guard/magazine assembly retain 50% faded casehardened finish. The stock has scattered age related storage and handling marks and blemishes throughout. Buttplate with slight discoloration. Mechanically fine. The scope mount is not present with the rifle.
