Raised matted full length rib with bead front sight, rear sight of one standing and one folding leaf each with platinum inlaid center line and respectively calibrated for ‘50’ and ‘100’ yards, and doll’s head extension. Casehardened action with carved percussion fences profusely engraved with finely engraved foliate border lines and scrollwork. Casehardened rebounding back-action locks each signed ‘ARMY & NAVY C.S.L.’ and engraved with scrollwork en suite with the action. Casehardened underlever, trigger-plate, trigger-guard, pistol grip cap and fore-end mounts each engraved en suite with the action. Highly figured 14 1/2 inch pistol grip stock including 3/4 inch rubber recoil pad with checkered grip and forearm. The underside of the butt with vacant silver initial oval, and fitted with blued iron sling eyes to the underside of the butt and barrels. London black powder proof marks. In recent oak and leather Prest Gun Cases full length case lined in dark blue soft baize, the lid with black leather Army & Navy trade label with gilt lettering, and with accessories including gold washed oil bottles, snap caps, striker pots and turnscrews, the case with leather cornered canvas outer.

Excellent. The barrels retain 99% original blue finish showing very slight case rubbing at the muzzles. The remaining metal surfaces retain 98% plus vivid original case colors with very slight case rubbing to the exposed edges. The wood is also excellent with limited handling evidence and sharp checkering. Mechanically excellent. The case is fine with some minor rubbing from the rifle to the lining and some storage marks on the exterior. This magnificent double hammer rifle represents an opportunity to acquire a virtually as new condition classic Victorian dangerous game rifle.
