Originally completed in circa 1933 as a .300 H&H Magnum, it has subsequently been converted to the more powerful .375 H&H Magnum cartridge. Features blued, chopper lump barrels signed "HOLLAND & HOLLAND/98 NEW BOND STREET, LONDON" on the right and left respectively with ".375." MAGNUM RIMLESS" marked on the solid concave rib, raised quarter rib with fine matting and light checker board engraving, ramped beaded blade front and two leaf (one standing, one folding) rear express sights, double claw scope bases with Carl Zeiss Diavari 1.5-6x42 scope, London nitro reproof marks on the flats, and light engraving around the breech. Vibrantly casehardened side lock, treble grip, bolstered action with bushed firing pins with locking screws, and hand detachable Joseph Brazier Ashes nine-pin locks numbered to the frame with gold lined cocking indicators. The frame and locks feature intricate, full coverage, best quality, Royal scroll engraving throughout with cross hatched and punch dot shading with the locks marked "HOLLAND & HOLLAND" and the underside of the action marked "ROYAL/EJECTOR". With dual triggers, finely engraved, rolled edge trigger guard with matching serial number on the lower tang, and top tang mounted automatic safety with gold inlaid "SAFE". Nicely figured pistol grip stock with fine multi-point checkering, Anson push button forend release with engraved fittings, engraved blue steel grip cap, blank gold initial oval, raised cheekpiece, and leather wrapped recoil pad. The barrel and buttstock are fitted with sling swivels and a leather sling. Import marking on barrel rib under the forearm. With an oak and leather takedown case with brass fittings and corner protectors, and a Holland & Holland trade label on the interior of the lid. The case contains a set of snap caps, nickel oiler, nickel firing pin container, horn handled London pattern turnscrew, and horn handled two-piece cleaning rod. Length of pull is 14 3/4 inches. Very fine as professionally refinished and rechambered (see above) with 95% of the blue finish remaining, slightly light barrel markings, and some scattered nicks and scratches. The receiver and locks retain 98% bright case colors with sharp, detailed engraving, traces of light edge wear, and handling marks mostly on the lever and trigger guard/tangs. The wood is also very fine with mostly crisp checkering, dark mineral lines, and small scattered dings throughout. Mechanically excellent. Scope is very good with some small exterior dings and clear optics. Case is fine with scuffs and dings on the exterior, mild patina on the brass fittings, some interior staining, and some visible cracking around the latch hardware.
