Manufactured in 1957 and subsequently engraved and silver finished. This revolver has almost 100% engraved coverage of floral scroll and punch dot patterns. A portion of the rear of the cylinder and lower right side recoil shield have a diamond and circle design and the top of the back strap has a burst design. The outer edge of the ejector head has a punch dot design. There is a script "R" engraved on the front of the trigger guard plate. The revolver has been finished in silver with a gold hammer, trigger and ejector head. The top of the barrel has the one line address, "COLT SINGLE ACTION ARMY .45" on the left side and the two line, three patent dates are on the left side of the frame followed by the Rampant Colt. The matching serial number is marked on the bottom of the frame and on the left side of the front and back straps under the grips. Fixed sights with smooth two piece grips with silver Colt medallions. The accompanying factory letter verifies the serial number, caliber, barrel length, blue finish with the grips "Not Listed" and that it was shipped as 1 to Hugh Whitaker, of Paris, Texas on September 13, 1957. Also there is a typed letter dated November 13, 1997 from Bob Barlow, the engraver, who states that he bought the gun in June of 1997 with the intent of engraving and reselling it. He further explains that the gun was polished in August of 1997 and then sent back to him for engraving. He states that the engraving is done in the traditional Belgian style with a chasing hammer and chisel (called by some graveur). When he was finished, the gun was sent out and silver plated, and then returned to him. He adds that this particular revolver is as close as he has ever come to 100% engraving on a gun.

Very fine as professionally embellished and refinished with all of the silver and gold finishes remaining. Some of the silver is beginning to age on the smooth, un-engraved areas. The grips are also very fine with only the slightest handling marks and showing an attractive grain. Mechanically excellent. This an exceptionally nice custom silver and gold finished, highly embellished Colt Single Action revolver.
