Description:

This is an excellent all original Walther Mod. PPK Party Leader pistol with the highly desirable and very rare Political Leader Party grips. These PPKs were officially known as the "Honor Weapon of the Political Leaders" as these PPK pistols, with these special grips installed, were presented to high ranking Nazi officers of the NSDAP for meritorious service to the Nazi Party. The grips themselves are a one-piece wraparound grip consisting of a mottled-brown plastic material, that has the distinctive large Nazi Eagle clutching a Swastika encircled by a wreath at the top on both sides, with the balance of the grip having impressed checkering. The left side of the slide is marked with the Walther Banner followed by the factory legend and caliber in two lines and the designation "Mod. PPK.". The pistol itself is a pre-war commercial model with the "Crown/N" proofmarks, stamped on the right side of the slide below the ejection port and on the right side of the barrel in the chamber area. The pistol has a 60 degree safety lever, cartridge indicator pin, and lanyard loop on the bottom of the frame. The serial number is marked vertically on the right side of the frame behind the trigger. Party Leader grips will be found on Walther PPKs in the 850,000 to 935,000 range and again in the "174,000K to 234,965K" serial number range, with this example being fairly high in the serial number range. As noted this rare pistol is complete with the original Walther brown, wood grain cardboard shipping box with the PPK legend and paper label on top of the lid, with the original prewar green & white label on the end showing the matching serial number. The box is complete with two blued magazines, one with a brown plastic finger extension and the other one with the blued flat base, both are marked with the Walther banner on the lower left side, the original Walther manual, the small Walther tin box that holds the yellow Walther cleaning cloth, a small horse-hair cloth/brush and the small glass vial for holding oil. This pistol is also accompanied by the original WWII, GI capture document, dated Feb 1946, listing this pistol by serial number.

Rating Definition:

Excellent with 98% of the original blue finish showing only minor edge and high spot wear with some minor blue loss on the front edges of the slide. The pistol has the original matching slide, correctly numbered on the inside. The grips are excellent with nice clear Party Leader Eagles on both sides, with only minor warpage on the lower front edges of the grips. There are two typical minor stress cracks, one on the upper right side of the grips and a very small one on the very rear upper section of the grip below the frame extension. The Walther box is very good with a very nice original color overall with the lid and end labels complete and intact with some minor fraying of the edges. The edges and corners of the lid show heavier wear, with the upper left corner having separated. Overall an exceptional example of a very rare prewar Walther PPK with Party Leader grips, original shipping box and GI capture documents.
