Description:

This is an excellent example of a late production Model 1928 Thompson Submachine Gun that was manufactured by the Auto-Ordnance Corporation of West Hurley, New York, circa late 1970s early 80s. These SMGs can be easily identified by the "A" serial number suffix. These new production weapons retained many of the earlier original style parts such as the finned barrel, Thompson-Cutts style compensator, vertical foregrip, detachable buttstock and adjustable ladder rear sight. The left side of the receiver is marked "U.S. MODEL 1928/No.1653A" followed by "THOMPSON SUBMACHINE GUN/CALIBER .45M1". The right side is marked "AUTO-ORDNANCE CORPORATION/WEST HURLEY, NEW YORK, U.S.A." This desirable weapon has an all walnut stock, vertical foregrip and pistol grip and the later brush blued finish. This lot includes seven magazines total: one 50 round drum magazine, one 20 round stick magazine, five 30 round magazines and a canvas magazine pouch. This lot also includes two original Auto Ordnance/West Hurley documents; an operators manual and an original Sales Brochure and price list. Interesting reading of a bygone time.

Rating Definition:

Excellent with 95% plus of the original blue finish overall with edge and high spot wear with minor blue loss on top of the receiver from cycling the bolt. The wood components are all in excellent condition with only minor handling marks with the buttstock actually showing some nice figure in the wood. The various components are all in excellent condition. NOTE: This item is restricted as a National Firearms Act (NFA), fully transferable Class 3, which is registered with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, (BATFE) that is classified as a "Curios or Relic" as defined in 27 CFR, 478.11. These weapons are still subject to the provisions of 18 U.S.C. Chapter 44 and 27 CFR part 478.
